THE Guernsey Development team have won two and lost two so far on their South Africa tour. After losing their opening match with Belville they bounced back in fine style in their second game with Bergvliet. In a day/night clash under floodlights, the Sarnians batted first and posted 176 from their 45 overs.

Captain Jamie Nussbaumer smashed 75 in the greens' total that proved to be enough for the visitors as Bergvliet fell 21 runs short.

Next up the tourists were again on the receiving end of a defeat when they faced Wynberg School that produced Test cricketers Allan Lamb, Kepler Wessels and Jacques Kallis.

Guernsey bowled well to pin Wynberg back to 159 in 40 overs, but the Springboks' fine bowling attack did the damage as the visitors were dismissed for just 70.

But Nussbaumer and his team soon put that behind them as they narrowly overcame Fish Hoek in the next match.

The South Africans were bowled out for 162, a total that Guernsey reached with just one wicket remaining. A fine last wicket stand between Luke Nussbaumer and Ollie Richards saw them home with nine balls to go.

'I think for everyone it's been a good learning experience,' said team manager Dave Nussbaumer.
