GUERNSEY could be in serious relegation bother at the bottom of the London Three South-West table if they lose today away at Chobham and other results go against them. The league table certainly suggests a fifth defeat of the season is on the cards for Andy Bailey's men and the captain knows what his side must not do today: kick into touch.

'By all accounts they have recruited from last year and are strong in the pack.

'We will be looking to keep the ball in play a lot more,' added the captain, who is joined in today's team by younger brother Alec.

With both Rob Brazier and Carl Gardner unavailable to fill the scrum half role, Alec steps into a side showing several changes from the team that scraped a 23-23 draw against Gosport and Fareham a fortnight ago.

The influential Jim Elliott is also missing as he attends another wedding, but Jim Regnard is back at No. 8 after missing the last match.

Elliott will be sorely missed, says the captain.

'It's a big shame for us; he has been the form guy.'

Jason Mroch returns to the front row after a two-year absence.

'We've been struggling a little at hooker and he comes back to add a little bit of mettle in the front row,' said Bailey.

n THE Guernsey Rugby Club welcome everyone to their big Bonfire Night party at Foote's Lane tomorrow evening.

'The gates open at six and the fireworks are at 7.30,' said the Guernsey club captain.

Earlier in the day, St Jacques and Guernsey Seconds clash in the JRA League at the King George V Field.

The match kicks off at 11.30am and not 12.30 as previously reported.
