Deadly Callaway and Fears leave Nerine C too much to do

THE A team edged the battle of Nerine's top two in the Condor Ferries Premier League. The B side put up a good fight before eventually going down 44-39.

Meanwhile, the club's C team could not recover after Fortis Sarnians One established a strong early lead thanks to excellent shooting from GS Laura Callaway and GA Jane Fears.

Dawn Browning finally got her eye in, giving Nerine C the opportunity of a comeback and a tactical change in the third quarter with Denise Bourgaize moving to GD and Tanya Gibson to GA gave them a tighter defence. However, they could not close the gap.

In Division One, after a very close opening quarter, Nerine F pulled away to a comfortable 51-22 victory over the club's G team, with Sally McLoughlin shooting well.

After a slow start in their game against Heritage One, Fortis Sarnians Two upped the tempo to emerge 29-18 winners thanks to accurate shooting from Zoe Batiste and Abby Manly-Guilbert.

Young C Megan Hearse dominated centre court and thoroughly deserved her player-of-the-match nomination as did Heritage's Katie Robinson who made some timely interceptions.

Some impressive defending from Lynda Gavet could not prevent P&J Conservatories going down 40-17 to Nerine E while Richmond Masters beat Nerine D 28-21 in a closely contested game.

In Division Two, Guernsey Electric beat the six players of JT Electrics 54-26.

HSBC Honeys and Nerine H started off evenly matched with the score 5-5 at the end of the first quarter.

Then Honeys' shooters GA Amy Niles and GS Emma Wyatt-Nicolle found their range and edged them into the lead while at the other end some excellent defending by GD Amber Stables made life difficult for the Nerine shooters as Honeys went on and won the game quite comfortably 28-13.

Division Three saw Close Encounters continue their winning ways by narrowly beating Heritage Three 31-28.

The match was controlled by Close Encounters player of the match C Sally Ingrouille who had an outstanding game.

HSS beat KPMG 70-5 while Autumn Gold beat Fortis Sarnians Four 20-16 in a close match.
