A COLLEGE of Further Education associate lecturer has received a top award as an internal assessor. Julie Driver achieved the City and Guilds qualification last month. It allows her to assess the standard of catering teaching at the college.

'I embarked on this course to advance my career opportunities,' she said. 'I am delighted to be able to now help candidates achieve the same qualifications in the future.'

Ms Driver is the second staff member to become a level 4 internal assessor through the CFE.

Course co-ordinator John Semenowicz praised her for the achievement.

'Julie is the member of staff who has led the way on this qualification by using the college system which received such high praise from the City and Guilds external verifier,' he said.

'Her portfolio of evidence was so outstanding that she will now be joining the team of assessors to help deliver future awards here at the college.'

The teacher education team behind the award also received an unprecedented set of 'A' grades from the external verifier.
