GUERNSEY will need this afternoon to make a little bit of history if they are to bounce back from last week's disappointing defeat. Following the 10-12 home loss to Old Wimbledonians, the Sarnians travel to Old Reigatian to face a side whom they have not beaten in five meetings over the last three seasons.

Captain Andy Bailey, though, struck an upbeat tone in the build-up to this clash.

'Having Simon Sharrott back in the front row, alongside Lol Hill-Tout and Dave McGall, who played so well last week, will help give stability to our pack in the set piece,' he said

'Reigatian have an impressive and experienced pack, but we are confident that last week was just a blip and we can get back to winning ways.'

Guernsey have opted not to make wholesale changes to the side that were defeated last week when a poor first-half display cost them dearly.

The skipper believes his side has the strength to put that dire 40 minutes firmly behind them.

'These guys have performed well for us week on week, they work hard in training and everyone is allowed an off day,' said Bailey.

'It's just a shame that so many of us had an off-day in the same game, otherwise we would be talking about a narrow victory rather than last week's disappointing performance.

'I am confident that we have a squad of players capable of winning games and taking us up the league.'
