THE latest round of the Guernsey Kart and Motor Club Motocross Champion-ship on Saturday was marred by a spate of accidents that resulted in serious injuries. At Pleinmont Point the day started with high winds and cloudy skies but it brightened up to clear skies and good conditions as Bradley Le Feuvre and Aaron Lesbirel both took a tumble that resulted in broken legs. Jersey's Le Feuvre was under the surgeon's knife at the PEH that evening.

Junior Daniel Simon was also rushed away from the track with a suspected broken leg after another accident.

'It was one of the worst days we've had in a long time,' said club stalwart Anyon Robilliard.

'It wasn't because of the track, it was because someone would fall over and get ridden into or over. It was just one of those freak days.

'It can be silly little things that cause accidents and that was how it was on Saturday.

'It's not often we get broken legs - we had two in the whole of last season. So three in a day is really against the odds.'

In the races, Jordan Palmeri grabbed the automatic class with two wins and a silver ahead of Riley King.

Jersey rider Ryan Currell took control of the 65cc class but was pushed hard by Frankie Brouard and with another Caesarean, Evan Kaye, collecting third.

The two 85cc classes were combined and proved to be a hit with spectators.

Luke Lesbirel revelled in conditions as the absence of Brett Pearce and injury to his brother, Aaron, meant he was unchallenged all day.

Dexter Le Sauvage claimed second ahead of Alderney's Liam Guille.

In the smaller of the classes, Jersey's Lee Le Veillez took two wins ahead of fellow islander Le Feuvre, with local rider Michael Dempster collecting third.

The MX2 class witnessed another dominant display of riding from Marc Cox who was unbeaten on the day.

Mark de la Mare and Hamish Moriarty traded second places, but it was the former who claimed the runner-up position.

The same three took the top spots in the grand final.

The MX1 class saw Robilliard and Carl Wall-bridge take to the front and battle all day long.

Wallbridge got out in front in the first race and was being pushed by Robilliard until late in the race when he fell and handed the win to his rival.

The same happened in the grand final to see Robilliard take all the race wins on the day. Alex Clark collected third.

The next Guernsey meeting is on Saturday 17 March at Pleinmont.
