ELIZABETH COLLEGE under-15s completed a very successful tour to Manchester with a 100-per-cent record. The team, who were hosted by Kings School Macclesfield, won all four of their matches.

The opening encounter was against King's School from Chester, recent winners of the Under-14 North of England Championship.

Although the host side enjoyed good possession, the college ran out 4-2 victors as Adam Clark put in a man of the match performance on his birthday, scoring one of the goals.

Clem Rix, Alex English and William Dovey grabbed the other three.

The following day the Sarnians travelled to Newcastle under Lyme and produced arguably their best performance of the tour.

English starred in midfield while Ben McVey made several excellent saves as goals from Rix and Guy Craze secured a 2-0 victory.

The third match was against the hosting King's from Macclesfield.

Although the college dominated the first half and took the lead through Tim Ravenscroft, the opposition were always a threat in front of goal and drew level early in the second half.

Two late goals, however, from Will Thompson and Ravenscroft gave the visitors a 3-1 win.

The final game was against Bowden Hockey Club, a team Guernsey under-15s met in the national finals last year and who went on to finish runners-up.

An early reverse-stick shot from Ravenscroft settled the team into some good possession hockey.

Although many of the players were very tired in their fourth game in four days, some good defensive work by Andrew Dawson-Ball, Nick Craze, Alistair Jones, Matthew Robilliard and James Jurkiewicz, plus some inspired saves from goalkeeper McVey, kept them in control.

Despite Bowden equalising, a late winner from Guy Craze enabled the college team to finish the tour on a high.

Squad: Ben McVey, Alistair Jones, Andrew Dawson-Ball, Nick Craze, Matthew Robilliard, William Thompson, Adam Clark, Tim Ravenscroft, Alex English, Clem Rix, Charlie Wilkes Green, Guy Craze, James Jurkiewicz, William Dovey.
