TWELVE overs - total - it took Division One title candidates St Pierre and Cobo to chase down their opponents' scores in mis-matches at KGV and Port Soif last night. Apart from the cloudless sky and lovely evening, the top flight double bill was unappetising stuff and, once again, highlighted that the quality of some of the bowling is not what it should be.

St Pierre stole the honours in terms of time at the crease.

With GH Smit smashing 36 off just 17 balls, the side overcame Griffins' 69 for eight in just 5.5 overs.

The South African crashed three sixes and not even the talented Sher Khanagha escaped the punishment, his 17 balls going for 34 on a night he might wish to forget. Earlier he fell for a second-ball duck.

Griffins might regard 69 from 16 overs a decent score considering that at one stage Justin Meades had reduced them to five for four.

At Port Soif, Cobo needed just two deliveries more to surpass Chandlers' 68 in 16 overs without losing a wicket.

Chandlers' trio of youngsters were given a lesson by TJ Ozanne and Matt Oliver, but it was good to see leg-spinner Ben McVey bowl a decent length and give plenty of flight in his one solitary over.

Earlier, McVey had topped off Chandlers' mediocre batting display with a superb back-foot straight drive off the last ball bowled by Liam Smyth. It came close to being a six.

McVey clearly is a player of some promise.
