THE Channel Islands men's hockey team have made it through to tomorrow's County Championships Divis-ion B finals. The islanders travel to Sheffield where they will take on Cambridgeshire in the semi-finals. If successful, they will then face either Cornwall or Leicestershire and Rutland, who are playing in the other semi.

In reaching this far they have already guaranteed themselves promotion to next year's Division A competition that features top National Division players.

In the recent group stage weekend, they first drew with the Royal Navy before losing to Cornwall 3-2.

In response to this they bounced back to get the better of Somerset 3-1 and then in a must-win match with the Army they won 4-2 to progress through to the semi-finals.

'Pretty happy,' said the Channel Islands and Guernsey keeper Andy Good, of the performances to date.

'There were quite a few Jersey boys in the team following their unlucky defeat in the inter-insular. But we played really well considering we've not played much together.'
