RYAN BISHOP, the Rovers run-machine, will have to wait at least until the inter-insular for his island debut. The South African has been named in a 17-man squad for the rest of the 2007 season which includes the forthcoming Jersey triangular one-day tournament in which France also feature, but he won't appear in either the games against the French or the host island.
'We have an agreement with Jersey and France that we can play only players that will be eligible for next year's European Division Two championships,' said island boss Dave Hearse.
'Ryan does not qualify and therefore cannot play.'
The fact that Bishop is in the squad suggests he is there for a reason - perhaps for the annual game against Jersey - and Hearse admitted he is in the running for the inter-insular.
Also included is 15-year-old Tim Ravenscroft.
The Hampshire academy player made a successful island debut against the Dutch Flamingo touring side and will definitely play in the game against France on 13 July.
Hearse considers him ready to step up to senior level.
'Tim is a quality player, he is technically one of the best batsmen in Guernsey and that is why he is able to compile big scores.
'I now consider him mature enough to be involved and this should help his development as he is now occasionally playing in the senior leagues in the UK.
'I have every intention of using him whenever it fits with his schedule, providing of course he continues to improve.
'I encourage youngsters to be involved with the seniors as it gives hope to all the promising youngsters we have on the island that they too can come through at an early age if they are good enough.'
The omissions include St Pierre and Mavericks all-rounder Justin Meades.
The Australian has asked Hearse not to be considered as 'he has personal issues he needs to concentrate on'.
Axed from the squad are seamer Steve Queripel, spinner Aaron Scoones and batsman Richard Veillard.
