STAFF at the Bachmann Group can now take an internationally recognised IT qualification in-house. The office has been accredited with European computer driving licence testing centre status by the British Computer Society.

The skills course involves seven modules including word-processing, spreadsheets, databases and presentations and other core applications which are used by employees as part of the day-to-day operation of the business.

Susie Andrade, the group's dedicated training officer, said staff development was of paramount importance.

The company is one of the Channel Islands' largest independent fiduciary businesses. Many employees already hold TEP, ACCA, CIB and ICSA qualifications.

'Gaining ECDL-accredited status is a real achievement. Now all employees will have the opportunity to improve their IT skills and confidence across a range of IT disciplines with the full support of the group.'

She said the real advantage of ECDL was flexibility.

'Employees will be able to study at work in the dedicated training room or at home, offering a suitable solution for everyone that complements our approach to ensuring a work-life balance.'

The accreditation comes after the award of ACCA platinum accreditation in 2005.
