Few crumbs of comfort for outclassed juniors

JUNIOR Club president Colin Le Huray struggled to put a brave face on the most disappointing inter-insular team result imaginable. But he did. Jersey crushed the young Sarnian side 16-1 over two days at La Moye and only a singles win by skipper Tom Le Huray, son of the president, saved the embarrassment of a whitewash.
Le Huray had travelled knowing his largely inexperienced lads were up against it, but had hoped for better.
'Never in my wildest dreams did I think we'd get done 8-0 on the Saturday.'
And before picking out a couple of individuals for their battling qualities, he had some harsh words.
'We lack an awful lot of commitment from individuals. We are a long way behind Jersey at the moment.
'They are head and shoulders ahead of us. Tee to green there is not a massive difference but their short games are much better than ours.'
The skipper's 4 and 3 win over Josh Ozard apart, there was little to cheer about for the visitors.
But the manager was impressed, in particular, by his two Danny boys.
'Daniel O'Brien and Danny Carre played out of their skins, although they lost. They stuck in there and battled their hearts out. Will Davidson, too, on his debut did well.
'O'Brien shot a two-over gross 70 in the fourballs, a phenomenal effort' said Le Huray.
