ANDRE ADAMS is the latest international recruit to the Rest of the World side to play Cobo next week. The hard-hitting New Zealand all-rounder joins his compatriot and national captain, Stephen Fleming, in the XI who will meet Cobo in a Twenty20 game at KGV to mark the 50th anniversary of the local club.

The Rest of the World team comprises at least seven past or present internationals, mostly English.

All are current first-class cricketers.

Brian Le Prevost, Cobo CC chairman and member of the club's 50th anniversary committee, is looking forward to the day and says it will bring a fitting end to the club's celebration programme.

'We've got a fine group of players coming over to play us and I'm glad that we can take on the Rest of the World team as the island's evening league champions,' he said.

Cobo clinched the Barclays Evening League Division One title on Tuesday by beating closest rivals St Pierre.

'The game on Wednesday will be followed by a golf day with them at La Grande Mare the following day and then a celebration dinner at the Cobo Bay that night,' said Le Prevost, who says that tickets for the dinner can be bought by any cricketing fans.

Cobo have already staged one major dinner to mark their landmark, at which former Derbyshire and England off-spinner and national selector Geoff Miller brought down a full house at the Cobo Bay with a long series of cricketing tales.

'We had well over one hundred at the dinner and it was fantastic to see so many old faces there,' said Le Prevost.

'I just hope that next week's match and dinner, which will bring the curtain down on our celebrations, is as well supported as the first.'

The club have also produced a glossy souvenir booklet charting their first 50 years, which is still available.
