THE Ladies' College under-16 team performed admirably to finish sixth at the West of England Regional Schools finals. It was the first time the side, who were representing the Channel Islands, had taken part in the competition that was held at Clifton College and was won by Millfield.
Overall, the Sarnians won two matches and narrowly lost two through last-minute goals.
Josie Chandler was outstanding in goal, saving a penalty flick against Hereford Cathedral School - a game the Ladies' College went on to win 1-0.
Team captain and West of England player Isobel Wray controlled much of the play in midfield, scoring a goal from a short corner.
Her cousin, Elizabeth Wray, scored three times, with Pippa Inderwick hitting the backboard once.
The team were noticed for their organised style of play and determined defending, led largely by Kelly Cameron. Her defence was solid and with several crucial tackles she kept the goals scored against the team to a minimal level.
The young squad came away from the tournament having gained valuable experience and full of enthusiasm to develop their game further, according to teacher Helen Watts.
