Personal bests smashed over 400m freestyle
THERE were some excellent personal-best times in the 400m freestyle event of the NRG Series staged by the Beau Sejour Barracudas Swimming Club.
THERE were some excellent personal-best times in the 400m freestyle event of the NRG Series staged by the Beau Sejour Barracudas Swimming Club. As this was the final event for the youngest age groups, there were important points to be gained, with swimmers giving their all.
Eleven-year-old Miles Munro just missed the championship record in his age group by 300ths of a second in a great swim of 5-11.80 to take the title. Katherine Jensen won the equivalent girls' event.
Fastest times of the day went to Jeremy Osborne and Robyn Le Friec recording 4-20.14 and 4-44.92 respectively.
In the youngest age group and competing over this distance for the first time, nine-year-old Courtney Butcher had a great swim, recording 6-33.43. Adam Ashcroft was the victor for the nine-year-old boys in 6-55.15.
Again Chloe Tostevin and Harry Parfit won the 10-year-olds' category, with Chloe improving on her entered time by an amazing 51.23 seconds.
In this same age group young Jonathon Beck achieved the greatest improvement in time overall by 110.25 seconds.
The 12/13 age group saw David Hall duck under the five-minute mark for the first time, improving on his best by more than 15 seconds to clock 4-59.73.
Lotte Parfit recorded promising split times to almost break five minutes but had to be content with a life- time best of 5-01.26.
The 14/15 titles went to Victoria Parfit and Joshua Lewis in 4-53.80 and 4-39.32 respectively.
