TODD PRIAULX battled to the bitter end, but as his final delivery slipped by the jack the Tigers' hopes of beating the Great Wight Sharks finally disappeared. It was a thrilling end to two days of test action at the Hougue du Pommier Stadium.

The boys from the Isle of Wight duly edged it by 12 points to 10 but had Priaulx's final bowl taken out Travis Meller's telling shot bowl, the count would have been four in the Sarnian's favour and the pressure back on Meller with one bowl remaining.

As it was Meller's single was enough for a 21-18 win and the visiting contingent were able to celebrate.

A Priaulx win would have given the Tigers a fourth singles win out of the six played on the final morning, but Meller's triumph ensured the Sharks just held onto the advantage they had gained in the pairs session on day one.

After the initial two matches had been shared, one a triple and one a four, the Sharks won two of the three pairs to hold the edge overnight.

There were big singles wins for the Bichard boys who, along with Mike Le Page, finished the weekend with two wins to their name.

Kris Bichard won his singles 21-9, Shaun Bichard triumphed 21-3 and Le Page 21-13.
