A PAST lady captain has won the Yorkshire Guernsey Cancer Relief Trophy in a tight countback.

One of the first major competitions in the ladies' Royal Guernsey Golf Club calendar, Mireille Woodcock (pictured) won with 40 Stableford points the coveted trophy donated by Mr and Mrs Stan Coker in 1984.

Veronica Bougourd, who plays off five, had the best converted gross of 81. Also closing with 40 points were Sue Boot (second place) and Ann Emmett (third). Pam Le Vallee finished in fourth with 39 points.

Coincidentally this was the first trophy Woodcock won when she took up golf back in 1990 and she was delighted to have won it again.
