JERSEY'S new South African coach, the former Test batsman, Peter Kirsten, is already playing catch- up on the inter-insular scene after two good wins for the Sarnians at Grainville over the weekend.

Although officially billed as friendlies, Guernsey coach Dave Hearse was quick to question if there could ever be such a thing.

'I don't think there will ever be a friendly against Jersey,' said Hearse. 'There was pride to play for and it was important for Jersey and their new coach.'
