BOBBY EGGO has claimed the Butterfield Salver for the ninth time in 12 years. The number-one seed for next week's Fortis Island Champion-ship shot two excellent gross 70s to take the scratch trophy in the inter-club competition.

His feat was matched by Garry McFarlane, but the L'Ancresse man lost on countback. The star of the handicap competition, for the Brymay Cup, was Dave Collenette.

Playing off six, he managed a gross 70 in the morning and after nine holes in the afternoon he had fared even better at two under gross. Collenette then dropped a few shots on the last nine, but still finished with a net 70.

That put him clear of the next man, McFarlane, by two shots and four ahead of third-placed Jeff Domaille.
