GUERNSEY under-eights overcame the odds to register the only junior home win on Siam weekend.
Going into a game for which the opposition have a squad three times bigger, have played considerably more competitive rugby and turned up in a kit full of sponsors' names might have seemed like a hiding to nothing, but in the minds of captain Ben Holland and the rest of the under-eights was the thought 'watch out Goliath here comes David'.
Right from the start, the defensive play was immense. Moving up quickly in defence can be a dangerous strategy, but with the likes of Joshua Bruges never missing a tackle all game, this slowed the Jersey attack time and time again.
The second line of defence was also as solid as a rock, continually turning the ball over.
