AN EXCITING and close contest between the four Channel Islands clubs came down to the relays at the Deloitte Annual Junior Meet. Barracudas came out on top at the event for nine- to 11-year-olds, taking all three from the host Guernsey Swimming Club teams in nail-biting second place to win the Governor's Cup by seven points over the GSC.

Nine-year-old participants in their first big gala swam well, with GSC's Lewis Winberg coming away with three gold medals, one silver and one bronze.

Barracudas Alex Parfit (pictured) collected a gold and four silver, with teammate Piers Holbrook-Sanderson winning one gold and three bronze.

The nine-year-old girls' category was dominated by Victoria Symes and Georgina Tapp, the former taking three gold and two silver and the latter two of each.
