KRISTINA NEVES continued to make a name for herself as she won nine events at the weekend's Manchester Long Course Open.

Swimming for the first time in the Commonwealth Games pool, the 11-year-old Guernsey Swimming Club member, who is sponsored by Rothschild Bank International, took part in 15 events.

Along with her nine wins, she came second in the other six races. She also achieved seven personal best times. The highlight was arguably the 50m fly in which she finished just outside the new island record.

The record might have belonged to her had Robyn Le Friec not set a new one at the K2 pool in Crawley in April. Also in the 50m freestyle sprint, Neves managed to get below the magic 30 second barrier to finish in a time of 29.85. Her performance saw her top of her Bagcats age group as well.

Neves' next big competition is the South-East Championships at the end of the month.
