CRICKET was a wash out on Saturday. Heavy rain saw both Carey Olsen Weekend League matches abandoned – which was perhaps good news for at least one of the sides.

At Port Soif, Rovers were in real trouble as Cobo had them 63 for five with Tim Duke and GH Smit both out cheaply. But Bisson brothers Stuart and Jody proceeded to stop the rot.

Island wicketkeeper Jody ended up on 52 not out as the game was called off at 137 for seven in the 38th over. Meanwhile at the College Field, Optimists were also deep in the mire at 14 for three early on at the hands of Elizabeth College.

But they managed to get themselves past 50 before the rain came. Rain also played havoc in Saturday's second day of the ICC World Cricket Division Five in Jersey.
