IT HAS been an excellent first season for the Bouet Ballers. The team is made up of young residents of the area and was created to help overcome the estate's negative reputation.

And they have certainly done so with their performances on the court this year. Despite finishing bottom of the Development League, they notched up two great victories over their closest rivals, Deecaf.

The NCH youth alcohol worker and Guernsey Basketball Association junior development officer Adam Farish coaches the side, assisted by Dave Wilson.

'The progress of the Bouet Ballers has been excellent this season,' said Farish. 'As a team, and as individual players, they have improved greatly. The team's arrival has proved invaluable in other ways. Throughout the season issues around alcohol, drugs, sex, self esteem and image, social conscience, racism and tolerance have all been raised and addressed.'
