GARY RICH has come to Cobo's rescue once again. The island all-rounder has made a habit of bailing his club side out of tricky situations down the years and Saturday was no different as the two unbeaten sides in the Carey Olsen GCA Championship met at the KGV.

Defending a mediocre 147 all out, made thanks only to captain Ben Driver's excellent 76, Wanderers put themselves into a great position by removing the champions' top five with just 59 on the board.

But Rich, with fine support from TJ Ozanne and then Tom Le Tissier, steadied the ship and saw his side home with an unbeaten half-century. 'Grichy batted really well. He has shown over the years that he excels when we are in trouble,' said Cobo captain Stuart Le Prevost.

'Today certainly emphasised the benefit in having a long batting order.'
