TIM RAVENSCROFT gave his Hampshire county commitments a miss and a makeshift Argylls side were made to pay for his presence at KGV on Saturday.

The 16-year-old prospect (pictured) crashed a superb undefeated 152 to set up a 101-run GCA Championship win for the Elizabeth College side who made Argylls look poor in a game which again underlined the fact that for all the progress made in moving island cricket forward there remains a lack of depth to the weekend game.

Ravenscroft enjoyed a couple of lives in his masterful knock which included 16 fours and a six. The college rattled up 264 for eight and could then afford to give Ravenscroft an afternoon off with the ball as Argylls were dismissed for 163.

Only Carl Le Tissier mounted much resistance with 62 from 53 balls faced and spinner Ben McVey and seamer Jonny Clark were the pick of the college bowlers.
