JAMES MCLAUGHLIN has been in more record-breaking form.
In round five of the Velo Club's standards competition, which featured 22 riders, the youngster (pictured) was the fastest rider in 10min. 48sec. – a new junior record.
Grand veteran Terry Wright took second place in 11.31, with Mike Dean third. Josh Gosselin swapped his mountain bike for a time-trial bike to clock the fourth fastest time of the day, leaving many wondering why he didn't race time trials more often. Stuart Le Tissier finished in fifth followed by Tim Holmes, veteran Tim Martin, veteran Jon Dorey and Luke Walton with veteran Paul Jackson completing the top 10.
Once the riders had finished and all the times had been worked out against those for their respective age groups, the top 10 looked considerably different. Grand veteran Allan Renyard moved from 14th place to first in the standards competition, finishing 3.41 ahead of his standard time to maintain his perfect record in the event.
Wright took second place with McLaughlin third.
