FOR a second successive year a father-son combination won the Star Trophy, this time the Chelsea supporting Marleys.

Island player Mick and elder son Glenn won the Noel Shield foursomes a full decade ago when the latter was 15 and showing exciting potential to emulate his father's career.

But he dropped out of the sport for several years and having returned only last summer has once again got the bit between his teeth, yesterday's success strongly suggesting that he could yet make a fine player.

Playing among the final groups out on the course, the Marleys registered a second day 66.5 to finish on 141, one shot clear of Jason Savident and Andrew Dawson, who, for a long while, might have thought they had the trophy in the bag. But the Marleys were steadiness personified after an opening hole bogey.
