GUERNSEY suffered a bad defeat at the hands of the MCC at a chilly Port Soif yesterday.

Against a tired MCC team that is on the old side and has been on tour all week picking up a number of injuries along the way, the island side produced a sub-standard performance.

They were bowled out for 173 which the visitors knocked off with one over to spare. 'Not our best one,' said the chairman of the Guernsey Cricket Board, Dave Piesing. 'I think we were 30 runs short and didn't bowl in the right places. We didn't put them under enough pressure, but it's better to do your bad performances in friendlies.'

The one plus point in Guernsey's batting was the performance of Elizabeth College and island under-17 opening batsman Will Thompson. He scored 30.
