AFTER sneaking through three rounds by the skin of their teeth, Royal Guernsey pairing Paul Le Page and Nick Graham were edged out on the last hole of the Noel Shield match-play final at L'Ancresse.

Ultimately it was the L'Ancresse club pairing of Geoff Orme and Graham Sebire who won the prestigious foursomes event by one hole, having triumphed by a similar score against Chris and Emile Thompson in the semi-finals.

At least Le Page and Graham can claim they got great value for their entry. Prior to the final they had won two matches on the first extra hole and another by one up. Their only relatively easy game came in the first round when they won 3 and 2.

Bobby Eggo added to his vast collection of silverware with a 6-and-5 victory over Laurence Graham in the final of the Growers Cup matchplay event.
