KEN TUCKNOTT shot a brilliant second round to become a popular winner of the Tony Jacklin Open at St Pierre Park. The amiable 65-year-old carded a net 45, the best of the day by five shots, to win the two-day competition by three.

'The first round got better: I was 38 going out and 31 coming back. That was after playing 18 holes at L'Ancresse in the morning. I started with four threes on the trot on the second day and they were little tap-in threes.'

There was a brief wobble on the fifth, though, where Tucknott went out of bounds and took a five, but it was the only one of the round.
