JERSEY showed their intent yesterday when they defeated Croatia by seven wickets. At a damp and gloomy College Field, the Caesareans had little trouble chasing down their opponents' miserly total of 126 for nine.

Jersey have gone into the championship as favourites, but their captain Matt Hague was having none of it.

They play Guernsey in the final match on Saturday and the winners could determine who are champions.

'I think it'd be nice if we're unbeaten going into the Guernsey game,' he said. 'They are always tight. I think Guernsey are hoping they'd be unbeaten as well.

'Where we've won games is by building pressure, and we did that today.'
