'The fourballs will be key'

HE MAY be a novice as team captain, but Dave Rowlinson knows exactly what it takes to win an inter-insular.
Having made his debut in 1979, he played a prominent role in Guernsey's last away success the following year on his way to 25 caps against Jersey.
Now he hopes to mastermind an against-the-odds victory at Grouville at the weekend. He admitted that it would be far from easy.
'They start very much as favourites. We are away from home, we have not won in Jersey since 1980, we have lost the last four and on paper our handicaps are higher,' Rowlinson (pictured) said.
'In my mind, the fourballs are key. If we can stay with them until the singles, we have a chance.
'If we lose too much momentum early on, it becomes a very difficult task. How do you win? You get the momentum in the game. That way you get people who think that they can win.'
