Records fall on a day of top action
THERE was some top-class action at the Specsavers 100m Sprint Gala staged by the Guernsey Amateur Swimming Association at the weekend, with many new records being set.
THERE was some top-class action at the Specsavers 100m Sprint Gala staged by the Guernsey Amateur Swimming Association at the weekend, with many new records being set.
Swimmers from the two local clubs – the Beau Sejour Barracudas and the Guernsey Swimming Club – were divided into two age groups, 13-and-under and 14-and-over.
The 13-and-under girls' section was an especially high standard, dominated by three up-and-coming youngsters. Kristina Neves, Lotte Parfit and Cody Butcher all set records or finished inside the existing marks.
Neves placed first in the freestyle, butterfly and individual medley, setting new records in all three events, as well as finishing inside the old record in the backstroke where she placed second.
Her time in the freestyle of 1-01.41 was also the fastest time of the day from the women.
