THE world's gone silly. The stock markets are crashing, winged men are flying across the English Channel at 100mph and Rangers are five points clear at the top of the Priaulx.

But at least Guernsey's oldest club can say they are there on merit and although there is the fact that they have played two matches more than their three title rivals, this impressive win in the St Peter's sunshine, together with a clean sheet, shows that Shaun Lihou's side are not to be discounted.

On Saturday, they welcomed Dale Garland back to their starting line-up and although the Olympian looked at times a fish out of water in a central midfield role, he stepped up to score the third and Rangers are stronger for his return, in whichever position he finds himself playing.

Rangers have forwards coming out of their ears but they are not so blessed in midfield and defence as a remarkably young Sylvans side recognised from the first whistle.
