THE final of the 2008 BPP Handicap Tournament has helped kick off the new GNA season.

The two top teams, Nerine A and B, overcame their considerable handicap goal differences during the 2007-08 season to find themselves in contention for the new trophy.

The game started at a furious pace, with Nerine B leading by six goals from the off, and both teams very competitive, with the B team keeping with their A squad up to the first quarter.

Unfortunately, during the second, the B team suffered from the loss of one of their defenders, Cassie Le Page, who up until then had been doing an excellent job containing the A-squad shooters.

After that point the B team seemed to lose some of their composure and struggled to score in the middle two quarters. Despite making changes in both defence and attack, nothing they did made any impression on their A side, who took every opportunity they had and were given to convert into goals.
