ST MARTIN'S are making the most of the new Under-21 Development League and enjoying it, said James Le Gallez, their coach. His side left the Corbet Field on Sunday celebrating their first win at the third time of trying and the three points lifted them clear of Vale Rec and level with Sylvans.

Le Gallez, nephew of former Saints first-teamers Kevin and Trevor, said he was thoroughly enjoying the move into coaching and was full of praise for his squad.

'It's good but a lot more work than the old Youth One. We've got more players to work with than the Youth One.' But, he said, the priority was to give as many 16 and 17-year-olds a game because he sees it 'as their league'.

'It's a balance to filter these lads through.'

For the Vale Rec game Le Gallez gave a first start to Ben Hunter as one of the three over-age players permitted. The others were Damien Le Tocq and Aaron Gallie.
