STATES borrowing to get major redevelopments started could be a way forward, says Les Beaucamps School PTA treasurer Ian Dorey.

'Guernsey has always followed a policy of not borrowing, but I think if they need to do it in order to bring forward certain projects, then it's a good idea,' he said. Despite the possible future impact of doing so, he would like to see both Les Beaucamps and La Mare de Carteret rebuilt as soon as possible.

'We have been told that Les Beaucamps is top of the priority list and hope the work will start in the next two years,' he said. 'Mental health services and La Mare de Carteret are also on the list and need just as much work done, but if there is not enough money to complete all three then other ways should be looked at.

'After seeing the fantastic facilities at the new St Sampson's High School, I think that all students on the island should be able to access similar facilities.'
