A DECISION on who will carry the Guernsey flag at this evening's opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Youth Games has yet to be made.
But it will be a swimmer, revealed overall team manager David Harry (pictured).
'It will be one of the swimmers because they won't be competing until later in the week.'
The 10-strong team found India hot, humid and hectic when they arrived and settled into Pune, the venue for the third Games. All have now tried out the facilities and have given them top marks. Alison Frankland, the swimming team manager, was particularly pleased with what she found. 'The facilities are excellent. Obviously the organisers have focused on getting the sports facilities ready and they have done an excellent job. Our team were really excited to get into the pool and loosen up after travelling.'
Heather Watson, who along with Nic Tibeault, has slotted the Games into her globetrotting tennis career, thought that the courts were first-rate.
'The stadium court is unbelievable and we know that it will be fun to play on,' said the medal hope. 'Everything seems nicely arranged for a great tournament.'
