ALICE LOVERIDGE has won the third Carey Olsen Quarterly Sports Achievement Award of the year.

Guernsey's 14-year-old table tennis starlet enjoyed a remarkable three months from July to September.

At the Secondary Schools International tournament, she skipped competing in her own age group to win the under-16 national title at the Welsh Institute for Sport in Cardiff. She had earlier won bronze in the team event with Paula Le Ber.

Loveridge (pictured) went on to prove that she could mix it with the best of her age group during the team event at the European Youth Championships in Italy, winning 14 out of her 16 rubbers.

She then claimed her first adult Grand Prix competition success with the band one title in Liverpool.

That came in the same week that Loveridge was asked to join the senior Great Britain development squad for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
