DAVE JEFFERY and Sally Bryant won the annual Ducks and Drakes competition at La Grande Mare with an impressive net 63.

In second place were Bonnie Geddes and Martin Shaw with 65 and third were Nick Falla and June Le Poidevin, who beat on countback the other five couples who shot 70.

That was fitting given that Le Poidevin had originally set up the competition with Tony Bushell when they were lady captain and captain respectively and she continues to sponsor the event.

The format of Vazon greensomes which is specifically aimed at mixed pairings is that both players tee off, they then each play the second shot with their partner's ball before electing which ball they will play, again with each player taking alternate shots.

'All I can say is that we played near-perfect golf,' Jeffery (pictured) said. 'With a quarter shot allowance, it was always going to favour the lower handicaps.'
