Red-hot Ross leaves flu behind to hit Rec for six

ROSS ALLEN imperiously swept his Rangers side into the semi-finals of the Crimestoppers Guernsey FA Cup with a six-goal blitz at St Andrew's yesterday.

Rec failed to notice the near-perfect conditions for January football and, without centre-back Neil Sarahs, were unable to cope with Allen's speed, strength, close control and quality finishing. And the striker said afterwards that he was still feeling the after-effects of the flu.

Rangers, going down the slope at their home ground, were three goals to the good by the interval.

Dale Garland opened the scoring on 17 minutes, picking up a loose ball 35 yards out and taking it on at pace to finish confidently in Jody Bisson's right-hand corner.

It was to be their only goal without Allen's involvement.

The island striker opened his account on 36 minutes and added a second in added time as his fiercely struck free kick, which he had earned on the edge of the box, beat Bisson's right hand parry.
