GUERNSEY kept their fans on tenterhooks to the bitterly cold end on Saturday.

While not wishing to take anything away from the persistence and endeavour of KCS Old Boys, this victory should have been far more comfortable than a mere four-point margin for the home side.

In fact, the loudest applause came in the final minute when, knowing that it was the last play, David Harvey did exceptionally well to steal a KCS line-out and allow Blair Campbell to kick into touch, end the game and calm a few nerves.

Player-coach Jordan Reynalds admitted that his troops had shot themselves in the foot on several occasions in an entertaining second half by continuing to allow the visitors back into the game almost immediately after the hosts had scored themselves.

But he added that the fact that they had taken the two points was all-important.

'We want to draw on the crowd so we try to make it a good spectacle,' was Reynalds' wry response as to whether Guernsey had deliberately made it such a dramatic finish.'
