EIGHT teams will fight it out for the top prize of £1,000 at this year's HSBC Guernsey Open Fours Bowls Tournament.

Players from Belfast and Cardiff will travel to the island while Canadian under-25 international Erin Roth will make the long trip from her homeland.

Almost 40 locals will join the visitors on the green.

The eight teams have been placed initially into one league (group A) with every team playing each other.

The top four teams will then form group B and will play off in a further round-robin series for the top prizes including £1,000 for the overall winners, £650 for the runners-up, £300 for third place and £150 for fourth.

The remaining teams will form group C and will be playing off for a £100 consolation cheque.

The tournament at the Guernsey Bowls Stadium will get under way at 10am on Sunday and will run all week with every team playing a total of 10 games, including the final game on Saturday 24 January.

The final round robin games will begin at 2.15pm that day and should finish between 5 and 6pm.
