THE Specsavers Channel Islands Swimming Championships will pose the first big test of the year for Guernsey and Jersey's best swimmers.
With the distance races having taken place last weekend, the main events are being held this weekend at Beau Sejour.
The Guernsey Swimming Club will represent the Bailiwick along with the Beau Sejour Barracudas while Jersey Swimming Club and AIB Tigers are the two visiting clubs.
The swimmers will not only be gunning for CI titles, but also looking to gain qualifying times for Hampshire County Championships in March and the summer's Island Games in Aland.
The times for the biennial event have to be obtained by the end of April.
One person who will have a keen eye on how well the local swimmers do is the Guernsey Island Games and Barracudas head coach, Alison Frankland.
