FIRM defence and clinical second-half finishing saw Guernsey Seconds overturn a half-time deficit to secure a JRA League victory against St Jacques.

The home side's powerful pack gave them the upper hand in the first half at the KGV and they took the lead after 10 minutes.

Having received the ball from scrum half Matt Litten, fly half David Sinnott threw a dummy and made an incisive break.

He finished a great solo try with a chip-and-collect over the covering fullback before converting his own score.

Ten minutes later he slotted over a penalty to extend the lead to 10 points, but there was a sign of things to come when repetitive Saints indiscipline cost them three points just before the interval.

After the turnaround, Guernsey continued to make Saints pay for their misdemeanours as the visitors made the most of their opportunities to open up an 18-10 lead.

Saints were thrown a lifeline with five minutes remaining as Sinnott took his and his team's tally to 13 points with a penalty from in front of the posts.
