Formidable reds storm to title

JERSEY SECONDS have wrapped up the JRA Promail League with a third of the season to play.

Last weekend, while the leaders were playing a knock-about game with Wanderers, other results conspired to hand them the league.

Their record thus far of 615 points for and only 94 against shows just what a formidable force the Jersey Seconds are.

Only Jersey United Banks, who have a points difference of 156 compared to the Seconds' 521, have taken a game off them this season and so are deservedly in an unassailable second place.

Banks reiterated their strength at the weekend as they coasted to a 67-3 win over St Jacques.

The home side took control of the game after they had been given an early lead thanks to Rob Allen's try.

Tom Chamberlain kicked Saints' only points of the game in the first half.

The Sarnians currently lie sixth in the table, three places below Guernsey Seconds.

Following their cracking win over London South Africa last week, Simon Sharrott's side are back in action again today.

They travel to London Cornish for a re-arranged match.

Guernsey are six points behind fifth-placed Cornish who retain hopes of promotion.
