CRICKET star Murray Goodwin says the new Indoor Cricket Guernsey centre is 'as good as it gets'.

The Hougue du Pommier facility is due to open on Friday 27 March and reportedly has cost more than £1m. to build.

Zimbabwe and Sussex batsman Goodwin (pictured) was in Guernsey at the weekend as part of the county's development partnership with the island.

The 36-year-old had a look round the centre and was nothing less than impressed.

'It looks awesome and I think it's going to come out really well,' he said.

'This is as good quality as I've ever seen. This is as good as it gets.

'When you have a facility like this, people start raising their game. Guernsey should be really proud of it.'

An enthusiastic and engaging character, Goodwin spent the weekend working with the Guernsey PWC Academy, some other junior players and the senior island side.

Guernsey's high-performance coach Jeremy Frith, who is known as Mr Cricket because of his love and dedication to the game, said Goodwin put him in the shade.

'I'm delighted to have him over,' said Frith.
