THE next time Matt Jennings enters the ring will be in the National Senior ABA Championships as illness has ruled him out of tomorrow's Dinner Show.

The 32-year-old local cruiserweight (pictured) was due to fight Vincent Collingwood of Hull in Guernsey's match with a North of England Select side at St Pierre Park Hotel.

But he has been signed off work since last week with a chest infection.

The last time he fought was in last month's Open Show, when in front of more than 800 fans he was beaten on points by the highly-rated southerner, Tony Conquest.

Jennings looks set to be involved in the preliminary round for the Western Counties title in Bristol on Friday 21 March, which is the first step in the ABAs.

'I can't wait to get back after my last performance,' said Jennings, who was clearly disappointed about missing out tomorrow.

Last year Jennings made the quarter-finals of the ABAs before coming unstuck against Ricky Leyland of London's Peacock ABC.
