Munro in record-breaking form over 50m freestyle

MILES MUNRO set a new championship record in the 50m freestyle event of the NRG Series staged by the Beau Sejour Barracudas Swimming Club.

Having set a south-east region record in this event last year and with his entered time inside the existing record - a good swim was on the cards.

Despite being a fraction outside his personal best, he clocked 28.38 to take the record and the 12-13 years age group title.

Munro also placed first in the 50m breaststroke event in a time of 38.95, which equalled precisely his time set in the Channel Islands Championships.

Lotte Parfit recorded the fastest time of the day for the women in the 50m freestyle in a great time of 29.16 and also took the title in her age group in the 50m breaststroke.

Fastest time of the day in this event went to Victoria Parfit, who took the touch in 36.65 as well as winning her age group in the 50m freestyle.

Fastest times overall for the men came from Joshua Lewis in the breaststroke in 32.51 and James Jurkiewicz in the freestyle 25.77.
